Hello everybody! This week’s post is one that I honestly resisted to do. Why, you might think? Well, I have always thought of this Fall fashion look as way to bold for me.

However, if you have been following me for a while you, you may have noticed that I like to challenge myself in trying out new fashion trends while also having fun with them and inspiring you to do the same.

With that said, I was ready this week to try the Animal print trend! And, I loved it!

I “tamed” (bad pun, but I couldn’t resist) this look by adding feminine details in the jewelry. I also opted for ankle height booties because it is Fall after all and the chilly weather just makes it difficult for any open toe shoe. I finished the look with this beautiful suede and leather burgundy crossover bag and my pair of oversize Prada sunglasses for a final feminine look.

I hope you have enjoyed this look and the pictures as we did the photo shoot just as the sun was setting and it made for a perfect beautiful golden hue to the pictures.

Love and Peace,

Alba

Hello everybody! I’m very happy be sharing this week’s post with you because with the start of Fall, not only is Nature changing its colors, but our wardrobe follows along with it. And, for this week, I decided to do a Fall outfit color in gold and burnt orange.

I had never combined these two colors before, but I was definitely inspired by Fall.

For my accessories, I kept my lace up shoes in a neutral color, but had fun with my watch and  small crossbody bag. The watch is also in the orange color palette with gold hues to it and it matched my long, gold earrings in a subtle way. For a bold look, I added the bag in a dark navy color. The overall look was fun, colorful and chic.

I hope this inspires you to look around your surroundings and let that help you create a fun look!

Love and Peace,

Alba

Transitioning from Summer to Fall

Dark Florals

Hello everyone!

As we cling on to the last days of Summer, not only are the leaves about transition from their laid back green to fiery hues of orange and red, but so is our wardrobe to adjust to those slightly colder temperatures.

However, what about the transition period when it’s still warm for a dress, but cooler at night and Fall stepping in more and more? Try long sleeve dresses with dark florals! Easy, right? The longer sleeves will help when the temperature begins to slightly get cooler and the prints with the dark florals add a chic nod to the transition period.

For this week’s look, I happen to be in Chicago celebrating my birthday! If you want to see more pictures from my travels there, join me on Instagram and follow me along @AugustRunway!

This dress was perfect for this transition period and also very versatile in using it from a day to night look simply by switching out the accessories. For this day look, I went with minimal jewelry and sunglasses, but added a little chic touch with the lace up tassel sandals and the saddle style bag.

Hope that you have enjoyed the look and pictures! Thanks for stopping by and don’t forget to subscribe to get first access to new posts!

Black and White with Stripes

This week, I’m featuring another classic look: black and white with stripes. No matter the season, the black and white with the chic stripes will always be in style. And, since we’re in the last days of the Fall season, I couldn’t resist adding another trend: a military look.

You might have seen the military look mostly on coats and will probably see more of it as the Winter season begins. So, when I saw that this blouse had the classic look, along with the military style buttons, I knew that I had to style it along with another classic feminine look, the flowy pleated skirt.

For the accessories, I went with a gold and shiny theme to match the buttons on the blouse. You’ll notice the black and gold in the watch, shoes, bracelet and in the handbag.

The handbag, in particular is the real star of this look. Of course the color and design are versatile and especially great for the holidays, but it is the story of what happened with it that makes it more special. It will always serve as a reminder to me of the good that still exists in people. Of honesty. And, the power of faith and prayer.

You must be thinking that I may have gone overboard with the depth of my description associated with this handbag, but give me a minute or two to share my personal experience and you’ll understand.

During this photo shoot, you’ll notice that in the first pictures I have the handbag. For the last pictures (the ones in the courtyard and where I am standing by the letter “A”), at some point my handbag was set down and we continued taking more photos of this look.

After this photo shoot and because it was freezing, we ran into the car and that was it. Fast forward to a week later and I’m getting my wardrobe and accessories ready for my next photo shoot. I soon realize that I am missing this handbag!!! I turned my closet and room upside down because at this point, I was sure we had brought my handbag back.

An extensive search in the car also proved useless. It was then that in panic, I knew that my handbag was left behind-a whole week ago-at the courtyard of my local public library.

I had all the odds against me because when I got this handbag, I didn’t have time to put in my ID or anything to say that it belonged to me. I also didn’t have time to cut the original tags off. And, I lost it outside a public place, not inside, where a chance of it being returned to a lost and found was a remote possibility.

Add to all those odds the fact that a whole week had passed by and well, needless to say, there was a very small chance-the size of a mustard seed-that somehow, I would find my handbag.

The realization that I had left my handbag happened on a Sunday and the Monday after that, my husband and I were calling the library in hopes that they might know something.

Slim chances, I know. Several calls later and each time we either got no answer, a “no we don’t have it, but will look out for it” and on one call, an answer that I didn’t expect “Yes!, someone turned it in to us and we have it, but someone came in and claimed it was theirs so they took it.”

Needless to say my heart was on a roller coaster ride. I then got on the phone with my mom and realized that I should kiss my $200.00 purse goodbye. However, my mom told me to have faith. Nothing is impossible to God. If you have faith, even as small as a mustard seed, great miracles can happen.

So, with faith as small as a mustard seed, I said a prayer. I felt slightly foolish for asking God for a material thing. I then remembered what a friend once told me, “We think we need to see big miracles in order to believe that God answers prayers, but it is in the deep, personal things, big or small, that only God would know how much the prayers we are asking for mean to us. So, it is actually in the everyday prayers that you realize just how close God is and how much He wants to help you.”

At around 4:30 p.m., my husband calls me and tells me that the library had called him. Keep in mind this was after they had said it was no longer there. I will never forget his words, “Um, the library called and said that they went looking in their lost and found again and it turns out that your purse was buried in the bottom of the lost and found. They have it and it is ready to be picked up!!!”

This was after we had heard that yes, it was turned in, but someone claimed it and took it!!!! I could not explain how this had just happened! Or maybe, with a little faith, I could.

I immediately started crying out of happiness! A sense of God’s presence washed over me and my thoughts raced to that kind and honest person who turned in my purse. I realized that, that person could have kept my handbag-no ID, outside a public place and brand new tags with it-in my carelessness, I had made it too easy for anyone to take it.

Yet, this person took the time to pick my handbag up, walk it inside the library and report it as missing. I think about that person everyday now and pray for him or her and their needs. For his/her family and for many blessings to them. Yes, there is still some good in this world. My prayer is that in opening up and sharing this story with you, it will inspire  you to do more acts of kindness, as it has inspired me too. Let’s make an effort to make this world a better place, one small act of kindness can have a huge and life changing impact!

Thank you for taking the time to read this!

This week we’re celebrating Thanksgiving Day and it’s been a relaxing time with all the focus on being grateful for all the blessings in our life.

Personally, I always like to take a moment during the day when I first wake up and at nighttime before I fall asleep to thank God for all the blessings in my life. I have come to realize that regardless of how tough a day has been, when I look for the good that did happen, I am never disappointed.

It’s nice, however, that the whole United States takes a day to stop and be thankful and celebrate those blessings with family and friends.

With Thanksgiving setting up the season for giving and Fall giving into Winter, I knew that I had to take advantage of the last days of Fall and capture my current surroundings in a photo shoot.

Once again, the inspiration for this flirty, fun and feminine look came from the stunning colors of the trees and nature being so colorful around me.

For this look, I paired this suede colorful mini skirt with a feminine lace blouse. Since temperatures are dropping (it was a shivering 34 degrees Fahrenheit when I did this photo shoot!), I paired this flirty mini skirt with over-the-knee boots to keep warm. I added a colorful purse and kept my accessories (watch, bracelet and earrings) in the same Fall color palette, but with an elegant tone to them.

Hope that you have enjoyed this look, along with the Fall surroundings in these pictures!

Wishing you all a Happy Thanksgiving and many blessings to you and your family.

Love and Peace,

Alba

I’m currently enjoying the changing seasons, which is something that I’m not used to after living in California for most of my life. I do miss the ocean and warmer weather, but am enjoying the changing colors throughout my new surroundings.

The vivid reds, yellows and orange on the trees and mountains have been amazing to to watch change and have inspired this outfit which is this leather dress in this bold red/auburn color.

It is another versatile piece that can be styled for a night out or day look, which is what I opted for.

I added a contrast in color with the lace up flats and added some playfulness to the look with my handbag.

Hope you like the look and the backgrounds! Location scouting has been fun and challenging, but rewarding when finding street art like this.

Love and peace,

Alba

Fall Trends 2015:  A Feminine Look to the Fall Trends

Pleated Skirts and Blouses with Bows

I recently picked up this playful and bright red pleated skirt and I knew that I wanted to style it in a very feminine way. It is such a versatile skirt that almost any top, including a t-shirt for a edgy and playful look will look great with this skirt. I decided to style it with yet another versatile wardrobe piece, this white button down blouse which has this bow detail. This blouse can be styled with any skirt, jeans, slacks and even with a pair of leather jeans paired with pumps like the all favorite Christian Louboutin pumps.

Since we had a couple of gorgeous sunny days, I decided to wear this outfit over the weekend. For accessories, I added a small handbag, my favorite sunnies and my recently acquired feminine and edgy watch. Hope you like this look, which also happens to be right in line with the Fall trends which include a pleated skirt and blouses with bows.

Love and Peace,
