Spring Embroidery Florals

Hello Everybody!

It is great to be back on this platform and continue to share with you more photos, personal stories and inspiration with fashion, travel and photography.

For this look, my vision was to do more of an Editorial look with the fashion and location.  Both proved to be exactly what I was looking for!

Let’s start with the dress. It’s the perfect transition piece from Spring to Summer because of its light and dreamy material, but the beautiful embroidery details made it ideal to try the Spring Embroidery Floral trend that has been so popular this season.

Initially, I was tempted to try out the embroidery trend on a denim shirt or jeans, but I soon saw that everywhere (and by everywhere I mean Pinterest and Instagram) and I knew I had to challenge myself a bit more and look for other wardrobe pieces that would be different to try the trend with. I soon found this dress! (Links other similar dresses below!)

Once I found the dress, I wanted to keep my accessories more subtle so that I could let the dress stand out. So I paired it with block heels and one of my favorite small, crossbody bags. I finished off this look with a nod to my Beloved Mexico and my culture since this happened to be right on Cinco de Mayo! So I added the red flower for some of the photos above.

As for the location, this stunning scenery is only a 15 minute drive from where I currently live and had not visited it during the Spring. The focal point was the covered bridge, but once we arrived and saw the creek with its rushing water leading off to a still and peaceful lake, we knew that these photos would take on a more Editorial look.  The Spring blooms, the mountains, the setting sun, the lake and covered bridge would all be part of this Spring Embroidery Floral look!

I hope that you have enjoyed these photos! Let it continue to inspire you to try new trends and have fun with fashion. Also, to go out and explore more!

Hello everyone! I am very excited about this week’s post for so many great reasons that I will share with you!

First, if you have been following me via Instagram (@AugustRunway), you’ll know that I was recently blessed to have crossed off a dream destination off my Wanderlust list:  visiting the Bonneville Salt Flats! I will be adding a separate page under the upcoming Travel section to this blog on details and pictures of this trip.

Second, I was also eager to do a quick fashion/editorial look while at the Salt Flats.  I knew that I wanted to style my look in a way that reflected my personal style:  feminine, playful and edgy.

I was able to find all my wardrobe pieces from H&M! I had bought the classic and feminine top earlier this year and just recently, at a visit to my local H&M, I found the playful fringe skirt.  I knew then that I had to style these two pieces, one classic and the other playful, together. I finished off the look with an H&M hat (in my own way, as an ode to all the racing history at this location) and added the red hat for a second, different look and pop of color against the stunning landscape around me. To add a hint of edginess, I added the booties and contrasted that with a pop of gold detailing with my jewelry.

I hope that you have enjoyed the look, pictures and travel inspiration, which is what I try to do with my occasional editorial fashion posts like this one. If you have been following me for awhile, you know that I like to interrupt the outfit of the day posts with editorials like these. If you enjoy them, let me know in the comments below!

Hello everyone! It had been awhile since I arranged a look to be more like an editorial. So for this week’s look, I was inspired by this amazing location to do a fashion editorial in the desert.

I knew that I wanted a red dress for this stunning background so that all the colors could provide a spectacular combination together! Also, I wanted the dress to be mid length because too short would have created an almost festival look (especially with Coachella just ending) and if the length of the dress was too long, it would look to formal for this background. This dress happened to be perfect! It was red, mid length, feminine, in between formal and casual, and edgy with the long slip along the leg and an over the shoulder look. Once I had the dress, I knew that I had to come to this location!

I especially love editorials because this is truly when two of my passions, photography and fashion, intermingle harmoniously. And, there is no limit as to what you can create in this field.

I hope that you have enjoyed this look! I may look calm in the pictures, but I was actually freezing! And, the winds that day were so chilly, but it made for a more “dramatic” effect on my dress. I hope you have enjoyed these pictures along with the location photos that I included in this post.

I also hope that it inspires you to go out and spend time in nature and who knows, even create your own fashion editorial shoot! Let me know in the comments below! Don’t forget to subscribe and connect with me via Instagram (@AugustRunway).

Happy New Year 2016 everyone!  I hope that you had a wonderful time celebrating with your loved ones! As for me, I had an amazing time with my family back in Southern California and made the most of the time that we all spent together.  The time spent at my parents home, going back to all my favorite restaurants and visiting Los Angeles, Laguna Beach, Dana Point, and Long Beach were highlights of this trip (including experiencing an unexpected 4.3 earthquake!) If you follow me on Instagram (@AugustRunway), I will be sharing more pictures from this time.

On New Year’s Day, we decided to play tourists in our own city and I was back at “work” again in planning out our photoshoots and location. My goal is to inspire you with fashion, photography and architecture all the while sharing with you personal stories behind the photo shoots and sharing with you some fashion and styling tips! More of that to come as well as a Travel and Beauty section to this blog!

For this look, since it was New Year’s Day, I wanted my look to be festive, fun, stylish and with a couture feel.  When I saw this dress, I knew that it marked off all the things that I was looking for and more! And, for location, I knew it had to the iconic Walt Disney Concert Hall. The day was slightly chilly, but it was so inspiring to be there and start the New Year doing what I love and sharing that with all of you.

I hope that you have enjoyed this look and photos!

Love and Peace,

Alba

When I first started this blog, I promised more “editorial-like” photos which highlights the fashion and location to create an overall mood. I love Fashion and Travel, so why not mix them both in an editorial inspired photo shoot?!

If you have been following me since I started this blog, you’ll remember the photo shoot I did in Palm Springs at midnight at various locations that featured architecture and fashion.

For this photo shoot, I wanted to style my look with the current Fall trends which include:  over the shoulder tops, printed mini skirts paired with ankle boots and the very popular scarf. I must admit that while I was ready for the over the shoulder top, the mini skirt and scarf were pieces that I don’t normally include into my wardrobe, but as I mentioned before in my first post on Fall trends, I planned to have fun, enjoy the challenge, and creativity that these trends were adding to my usual style.

As you can see from this look, I kept my feminine style in the stunning print on the skirt and scarf, but added an edgy element in the ankle boots.

Continue to use the #augustrunwayfalltrends on Instagram so that I can see your inspired looks!

And, before I sign off on this post, I have to encourage you all to go and visit this unreal and spectacular location! This beauty of a place is called Capitol Reef National Park located in the state of Utah. I plan to include a travel page to my blog and will add more pictures and details on this place! Stay tuned…

Love and Peace,
