Hello everybody! I’m very happy be sharing this week’s post with you because with the start of Fall, not only is Nature changing its colors, but our wardrobe follows along with it. And, for this week, I decided to do a Fall outfit color in gold and burnt orange.

I had never combined these two colors before, but I was definitely inspired by Fall.

For my accessories, I kept my lace up shoes in a neutral color, but had fun with my watch and  small crossbody bag. The watch is also in the orange color palette with gold hues to it and it matched my long, gold earrings in a subtle way. For a bold look, I added the bag in a dark navy color. The overall look was fun, colorful and chic.

I hope this inspires you to look around your surroundings and let that help you create a fun look!

Love and Peace,

Alba

Hello everybody! I am really excited about this week’s post for many reasons that I will share with you.

First, finding a dupe for the ever popular Chanel slingbacks was such an unexpected find that I could barely contain my excitement (and scream at my local Nordstrom Rack) when I found these and in my size!

Second, and on a more personal level, was the fact that after two years, I was able to put on a pair of heels! Hurray for the power of prayer! ️I have been dealing with three knee injuries that had me avoiding heels like the plague, but slipping into these felt like a momentous occasion for me!

And finally, challenging myself to go outside my color comfort zone and style this week’s look in Summer neutrals! I found the pieces at my local Banana Republic store and took a chance on pairing them together along with my slingbacks.

I hope that you like the look and pictures! And, may it inspire you to go outside your color comfort zone, too!

Love and Peace,

Alba

Hello everyone! Happy Easter season and Spring time! Hoping that your days are filled with all the joy that this season brings!

For this week, I wanted to incorporate a trend that involves color and style. This dress had both, so it was an easy piece to style this look around.

You may be aware that for the first time, there were two colors chosen for 2016. The colors are called Rose Quartz and Serenity. Since this dress falls under the Rose Quartz shade, I wanted to wear this to welcome Spring!

Another trend that you will notice is a feminine 70’s look with bell sleeves. I personally have always loved the bell sleeve look. However, I wasn’t too sure on the Rose Quartz colors. My personal preference are colors on the darker side. The point of fashion, at least for me, is to have fun with it and see what works for you and how it makes you feel.

On this look, I have to admit that I was surprised at how much I liked this color and it instantly made me feel happy. These two colors were chosen after all because they represent “… a soothing sense of order and peace.” (www.pantone.com)

It is amazing how much effect your wardrobe and the colors you wear can have on you! This is why I want to inspire you to try new looks or trends! If you have followed me for awhile, you’ll notice that I like to keep my own style (feminine, playful and edgy) as the foundation for my look, but have fun incorporating trends, too.

I hope you like the look and pictures! Don’t forget to subscribe to receive an alert when a new look is up! Thank you for stopping by!

Love and Peace,

Winter is finally on its last weeks and for this week’s post, I wanted to infuse my look with the Winter Color trend, burgundy.

This color instantly brings a look of sophistication and it is versatile to incorporate in your wardrobe.

For this week’s look, I choose this coat with the color burgundy and styled my look around it. I wanted the coat to stand out so I paired it with a rose colored, cropped turtleneck blouse and light colored denim jeans. For a pop of color, I chose a leopard clutch and dark Winter booties.

This look is great for everyday, but with a stylish influence.

Hello from Winter Wonderland again!

For this week’s look, I challenged myself to style my winter look with neutral colors. I normally opt for the the bold colors like red, burgundy, and black, but I wanted to try out new colors against this stunning Winter backdrop!

I choose colors from the neutral color palette and used this military-inspired coat to ground the whole look. I balanced out the edginess of the coat with a feminine and soft turtleneck blouse. I finished the look with a pair of dark denim skinny jeans, stylish winter boots and added another feminine touch with the handbag and sunglasses.

I hope that you have enjoyed the look! Let me know in the comments below. Don’t forget to subscribe and follow me on Instagram (@AugustRunway) to connect!

Hello everyone! One of the first things that you will notice about this post is that I have included a picture of a sunset to begin my look. Why is that? Well, first because if you have been following me for awhile, you know that I love to include architecture or scenic natural locations with my fashion photos. Also, if you follow me on Instagram (@AugustRunway) you know that most of my feed is either fashion or photos of scenic places that I have traveled to.

In this case, this was exactly how the sky looked like the day that I was doing this photo shoot! I simply had to share it with all of you here!

For this photo shoot, I wanted it to be at the iconic Urban Lights Art Installation at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art! I was thrilled and excited to be there!

As far as styling my wardrobe for this look, I knew I had to add color! I had to step out of my “color comfort zone” and not only add color, but make a color contrast or color blocking look. So, I decided on a classic shift dress that was feminine but had a bold blue color and paired it with bold burgundy suede flats. For my accessories, I incorporated flashy, bold, but feminine details with my clutch, rings and watch.

I hope that you have enjoyed the pictures and look! If so, comment below and don’t forget to subscribe!

Another Classic Look

Black and White with Stripes

This week, I’m featuring another classic look: black and white with stripes. No matter the season, the black and white with the chic stripes will always be in style. And, since we’re in the last days of the Fall season, I couldn’t resist adding another trend: a military look.

You might have seen the military look mostly on coats and will probably see more of it as the Winter season begins. So, when I saw that this blouse had the classic look, along with the military style buttons, I knew that I had to style it along with another classic feminine look, the flowy pleated skirt.

For the accessories, I went with a gold and shiny theme to match the buttons on the blouse. You’ll notice the black and gold in the watch, shoes, bracelet and in the handbag.

The handbag, in particular is the real star of this look. Of course the color and design are versatile and especially great for the holidays, but it is the story of what happened with it that makes it more special. It will always serve as a reminder to me of the good that still exists in people. Of honesty. And, the power of faith and prayer.

You must be thinking that I may have gone overboard with the depth of my description associated with this handbag, but give me a minute or two to share my personal experience and you’ll understand.

During this photo shoot, you’ll notice that in the first pictures I have the handbag. For the last pictures (the ones in the courtyard and where I am standing by the letter “A”), at some point my handbag was set down and we continued taking more photos of this look.

After this photo shoot and because it was freezing, we ran into the car and that was it. Fast forward to a week later and I’m getting my wardrobe and accessories ready for my next photo shoot. I soon realize that I am missing this handbag!!! I turned my closet and room upside down because at this point, I was sure we had brought my handbag back.

An extensive search in the car also proved useless. It was then that in panic, I knew that my handbag was left behind-a whole week ago-at the courtyard of my local public library.

I had all the odds against me because when I got this handbag, I didn’t have time to put in my ID or anything to say that it belonged to me. I also didn’t have time to cut the original tags off. And, I lost it outside a public place, not inside, where a chance of it being returned to a lost and found was a remote possibility.

Add to all those odds the fact that a whole week had passed by and well, needless to say, there was a very small chance-the size of a mustard seed-that somehow, I would find my handbag.

The realization that I had left my handbag happened on a Sunday and the Monday after that, my husband and I were calling the library in hopes that they might know something.

Slim chances, I know. Several calls later and each time we either got no answer, a “no we don’t have it, but will look out for it” and on one call, an answer that I didn’t expect “Yes!, someone turned it in to us and we have it, but someone came in and claimed it was theirs so they took it.”

Needless to say my heart was on a roller coaster ride. I then got on the phone with my mom and realized that I should kiss my $200.00 purse goodbye. However, my mom told me to have faith. Nothing is impossible to God. If you have faith, even as small as a mustard seed, great miracles can happen.

So, with faith as small as a mustard seed, I said a prayer. I felt slightly foolish for asking God for a material thing. I then remembered what a friend once told me, “We think we need to see big miracles in order to believe that God answers prayers, but it is in the deep, personal things, big or small, that only God would know how much the prayers we are asking for mean to us. So, it is actually in the everyday prayers that you realize just how close God is and how much He wants to help you.”

At around 4:30 p.m., my husband calls me and tells me that the library had called him. Keep in mind this was after they had said it was no longer there. I will never forget his words, “Um, the library called and said that they went looking in their lost and found again and it turns out that your purse was buried in the bottom of the lost and found. They have it and it is ready to be picked up!!!”

This was after we had heard that yes, it was turned in, but someone claimed it and took it!!!! I could not explain how this had just happened! Or maybe, with a little faith, I could.

I immediately started crying out of happiness! A sense of God’s presence washed over me and my thoughts raced to that kind and honest person who turned in my purse. I realized that, that person could have kept my handbag-no ID, outside a public place and brand new tags with it-in my carelessness, I had made it too easy for anyone to take it.

Yet, this person took the time to pick my handbag up, walk it inside the library and report it as missing. I think about that person everyday now and pray for him or her and their needs. For his/her family and for many blessings to them. Yes, there is still some good in this world. My prayer is that in opening up and sharing this story with you, it will inspire  you to do more acts of kindness, as it has inspired me too. Let’s make an effort to make this world a better place, one small act of kindness can have a huge and life changing impact!

Thank you for taking the time to read this!

Love and Peace,
